Ty Allan Jackson

Author of Make Your Own Money

Books changed Ty Allan Jackson’s life. His love of reading created opportunities that helped him—a kid growing up in the Bronx with a single parent—beat the odds and achieve success. Today, Ty is an award-winning children’s book author, literacy advocate, and youth motivational speaker whose mission is to get books in kids’ hands—especially in marginalized communities like the one he grew up in—and help them see reading as fun, exciting, and full of possibilities.

In 2009, Ty Allan Jackson self-published Danny Dollar Millionaire Extraordinaire, a book on entrepreneurship that inspired countless young people and gave birth to Danny Dollar Academy, a financial literacy curriculum for grades 3-6 that Ty brought to schools across the county in partnership with Northern Kentucky University Center for Economic Education and the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.

Ty founded Big Head Books (now Ty Allan Jackson LLC), a literacy organization that aims to spark a love for reading in every kid. A three-time TEDx presenter, he travels around the country getting kids excited about reading and working with adults to promote early literacy. Jackson’s self-published books have been featured on CNN, NBC Nightly News, The Steve Harvey Show, PBS, the Hallmark Channel, Good Morning America, and Disney+. His books have been used by Google for Entrepreneurs, United Way, YMCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and other youth organizations and schools as tools to enhance literacy. Jackson is cofounder of Read or Else, a movement created to shed light on the impacts of illiteracy. He is the recipient of an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters and the Massachusetts inaugural Martin Luther King Jr. Content of Character Award.

In his brand-new book, Make Your Own Money, Danny Dollar returns to teach kids the basics of finance including how to make, budget, save, donate, and invest money as well as writing a business plan, raising start-up funds, and understanding profit and loss.

Ty’s energy is palpable and captivating. He engages and inspires people of all ages. He speaks to schools and corporations, leads panel discussions and professional development workshops, and gives keynotes and commencement speeches.
